Speakers will focus on dam, water diversion and forestry concerns along the Klamath River, and how this relates to restrictions. While you're there, taste wild smoked salmon prepared using traditional Yurok Indian methods!

Return of the Salmon Festival on July 30th and 31st

On Saturday, July 30th and Sunday July 31st, the Ferry Building Marketplace will celebrate the local wild salmon season.

On Saturday July 30th CUESA's market-based educational programs, Meet the Producer and Shop with the Chef, will focus on wild salmon. Come to an interview with local fisherman Larry Miyamura at 10:00am, and a cooking demonstration with Chad Callahan of Fish Restaurant at 10:30am. Organizations working on behalf of wild salmon will set up informational tables in the market. Activities will include fly-tying demonstrations and salmon hat coloring for kids!

On Sunday, July 31st, head to the Ferry Building for a Salmon Roast Lunch from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. The $15.00 plate benefits Nextcourse - a San Francisco-based organization that brings skills and knowledge about purchasing and preparing fresh food to under-serviced communities. The Salmon Roast will be accompanied by local Indian storytelling, music & demonstrations.

This Week’s Feature: Remembering Dave Fredericks

We are saddened to share with you news of the recent death of farmer Dave Fredericks of Genuine Exotic Melons. Many of us knew and loved the enthusiasm, cheer, and smiles behind the delicious mandarins and genuinely exotic melons sold from the back of his pickup truck on Saturdays. A passionate grower who held extraordinary knowledge about the special crops he brought to market, Dave lovingly farmed the very same land worked by his great grandparents. While family members will continue to operate the farm, we mourn Dave's passing and are grateful to have shared in the life of a wonderful person and farmer.

Please come by our information booth this Saturday or Tuesday to sign a card for Dave's Family.
